BUTTOCK IMPLANTS

Buttock Augmentation- using implants is a cosmetic procedure that will better define or increase the size and shape of the buttock area. The decision for the shape and size of the implant is made depending on each person’s individual desires and their general body type. Generally, anyone in good physical condition or health can be a candidate for buttock augmentation surgery.

Buttock implants are positioned to look as natural as possible for the best possible cosmetic effect and are placed into each buttock area through a single incision overlying the tailbone. The general procedure is with a patient under general anesthesia. A two-to-three-inch incision is made between the buttocks in the midline. Through this incision a pocket is made just large enough for the implant. The pocket may be created above or within the muscle (gluteous maximus). The implant is inserted into its pocket. Both sides are carefully examined in order to ensure that the results look natural and symmetric. Dissolvable stitches are placed in the skin incision. Drains are often used and kept in place for several days to remove any fluid that may accumulate around the implants. A bandage is placed that provides compression to the buttocks which, in turn, helps reduce discomfort and swelling. The person leaves the surgical center facility within an hour after the two-hour procedure. Surgery risks may include infection, bleeding, nerve and/or muscle damage, slippage and asymmetry.
