The procedure usually takes less than one hour. Generally, very fine sutures are placed to re-align and repair the ear lobes.

Patients experience very little pain, although the ear may feel tender for several weeks. It is recommended that patients keep the site out of direct water for approximately 48 hours. In addition, antibiotic ointment is recommended for two to three days. Initial healing is usually completed in two to three weeks.
